Accountability and Empowerment

Many companies today are offering a permanent work from home option to all their employees, thanks to Covid-19.

For example, twitter recently announced that their employees may choose to work from home permanently, followed by Facebook, Square, Shopify, Coinbase, TCS and many more MNCs.

While the WFH or WFA[work from anywhere] culture is here to stay, how do organisations ensure employee productivity and avoid time-theft.

Employers can overcome this challenge by following the principle of bringing accountability and empowerment.

Accountability

Employers should draft detailed guidelines underlining the responsibilities of employees while they work from home. While most of the responsibilities remain the same for at work accountability, there are subtle changes that need to be made to the new work from home culture

  • Document all processes in detail
  • Define a clear communication strategy.
  • Introduce virtual leader boards and reward employees
  • Define clear goals for every department/employee.

Empowerment

To help employees achieve accountability and better productivity, employers need to empower the employees. Empowerment can be done in many ways, we try to simplify with a small list

  • Provide essential work from home gear, a desk, a good ergonomic chair and other essentials.
  • Incentivize them for being fit both physically and mentally.
  • Invest in good broadband or wifi connection
  • Emphasize and encourage team building and remote engagement.
  • Provide software which will help them manage their time efficiently and keeping them focused.

We believe that by bringing accountability and empowerment, the remote work culture can thrive and in fact produce better results than the traditional work place environment.

At TimeSigma we develop tools which will not only make the employees accountable but will also empower them with intelligent software which helps them stay on top of their work day and get more focused.
